PTO Meeting Nov 15th
If you looked at your Friday folder stuff, you may have noticed the announcement that "the NCS Drama Class will be presenting a special skit at our next PTO meeting on November 15th."
Yes, that was a surprise to me as well. I know we're all slam-busy.... I didn't ask for this. ;) But we'll go with it.
I think we've got 20-30 minutes to fill. Let me know if you've got any other ideas, but this is what I've come up with:
1. If you think your scene will be at least decent by then (a week from this Tuesday), think about performing it. I'll make it very clear that these are "scenes in progress." To be honest, some of you guys have enough characterization already to do a decent performance. It's a matter of memory and your own comfort level.
I'm not going to push you. Come talk to me at school if you're willing to volunteer.
2. If you still know your monologue and would be willing to brush up on it and perform it again, that would be cool. Come talk to me.
3. I think we'll spend a bulk of the time showing the folks some of the games we play in class. So I do need to ask for as many of you as possible to consider coming to the PTO meeting.

remember that the games need to make sense to an audience not familiar with drama ... and they need to be remotely entertaining to an audience (not like "Honey if you love me," which is fun only for those in the circle).
4. This is the same day as call-back auditions for Midsummer Night's Dream and a PE field trip (climbing). Yay for bad timing. I won't give any homework that day to 8th & up, and I'll try to get other teachers to go easy on you as well.
Clemson people, many of you will probably be coming to call-back auditions anyway ... so the Rameys are offering supper & a couch to crash on between call backs and the PTO meeting. Perhaps a Clemson parent could drive over and pick up the lot of you at 8pm.
Yay for a chance to show off a little, even if it hits at a busy time.
The PTO folks have always been really supportive ... and this might be a great excuse to hit them up for some money for the stuff we're gonna need for Midsummer. And maybe Mr. Bills will offer us an extra drama hour in exchange. =)

ummm i think bustop would be cool, or the park bench thing where you enforce the character on the person just sitting there...

Bus stop would be fun...I'm not too confident with either my monologue or scene though...plus, I already crushed my only rose.
"Little Red Riding Hood" is always a hit! :) Any of the fariytale games would be fun/funny. I agree that bus stop would be funny too! Just make sure that there is good emotions in the hat, not boring ones!
You'd have to talk to Mr. R to see about our scene...he would know better than I would about preforming it.
Wow, that is a lot to do! It will all be fun work though!
icky icky. I, for one, am totally not even remotely close to being near ready to do our scene. Heck no.
Well...it is bad timing...but it could be fun. I agree that bus stop would be a good game to play, plus the game where two people have objectives and have to "fight it out" would also be fun. Thanks for the haven for Clemson people! :-D
I think that busstop would be a good one, as well as random improvs where we have the emotion attached itmes... iono. *shruggs* and heck no I will not do my scene or my monologue.
bustop is cool...and the game where you like guess who your character is...oh ya park bench :-) Taylor i'm volunteering our scene...what do ya think 'bout that?
Bettina and Taylor should do their scene; it's great! I don't think I could do my monologue again. Bustop is fun, and improvs can be really funny.
Rebekah had a good idea today: Maybe we could make all the people attending the meeting play one of the games with us! That would be a good surprise, and I bet they'd have fun! :-D

thanks for the feedback & ideas. I'll let you know on Friday in class what I have planned. Hopefully we can get some audience participation too ...
What I *do* need to know is who CAN come to the PTO meeting? I'll be asking about that on Friday too .... I'd like to have as many of you as possible, but I realize you might have something else going on.

i agree with AMR (abigail?) about doing the party quirks game, but would that be fun enough for the audience? oooh, we could make someone from the audience be the host, or something...iono. I shall be there tuesday, me thinks. and yeah, i never got a friday folder from last week, so if there was anything important, i missed out. I still know my monologue, but i dont exactly desire to perform it if ya dont mind. if you absolutely need me to i could, but i dunno if you would want me to, so preferably not.
