Coach's Talk
The "big game" (to borrow a sports metaphor) is next week, and like a good coach I have things I want to say.
Plus, most of you need to write a few more blog posts, so here's something new to read. =)
Are you rehearsing?!? Rise above the temptation to leave it for next week.
Most of you were still weak on memorization. When you see that audience before you, you'll feel so much more confident if you know your piece well.
Expect a larger audience -- probably either the 6th or 7th graders will come listen.
Remember the subtexting assignment? Use it. The subtext drives the emotions you ought to portray with your body, face, and voice. We'll work on that some in drama this week.
Find a partner to practice with during recess this week and next week. You can't rehearse too much. =)
And, finally ....
Relax. You're going to do GREAT.
Question to ponder/respond to:
Do you like to create characters that are very SIMILAR to your personality, or do you like to go for all-out oddballs ... or at least characters that are quite different from your "normal" persona?

Ya... rehearsing/memorization skills have not been put to use since the workshop for me *sheepish grin*. Although i have been saying it every morining i wake up... don't know if that counts.
to answer the "question for thought"- I think I like to act out people who I can in some way relate to.. whether through experiences... or what I really feel like sometimes.-it helps me a lot with subtexting and such- but I think it's super fun to play Ethel everyonce in a while ^.^
("Question for thought"). I like to take traits of mine or someone I know and blow them way out of proportion so that they make an oddball-type. Sometimes it's fun to be extreme, rather than middle of the road. ;-)
as you prolly know like to go way out there using accents to drive my caracter. i am so used to my self that it seem normale and so i almost always think of acting as being somthing i am not.
Well, I am one of those no middle line type people. I either want to be totally all out, crazy and not like me at all. Or, very, very, very like myself. The funny thing is that we all wear "masks" around groups of people we don't know so well. So acting in front of people as "myself", may just be a diffrent charcter all together!

I think it is easier to act out a character who is similar to me. However, I can also have a lot of fun acting with an extremely different personality (if I like the character). Rebekah :)
It's fun to play an all out crazy character, especially when they are the total opposite of how you normally are, but when you play someone you are similar to it's sometimes easier to portray them. Either way it's funner to do one or the other, and not be in the middle.
I agree. No middle for me. :-D
I love watching people create characters very different from themselves.
I find creating a character very different from myself to be a very difficult thing ... mostly because I've got a hyper-huge dose of self-consciousness. And I figure the way to fix that is to jump in with you guys more often during games in class.
Y'all gotta keep me accountable on that ... I need your help to improve as an actor.
Hopefully Lady Macbeth is quite different from Lori Ramey
=)
I have a hyper-huge dose of self-consciousness too. Maybe we can help each other. Rebekah
I guess I like to do both depending on the character
Aaron
